Take a walk down the jetty at Yacht Haven Marina

This blog is all about eye candy, dreaming, if only & what ifs.

We are anchored just outside of Yacht Haven Marina on the north coast of Phuket, far away from anywhere, in fact its in the middle of nowhere. So what draws people here or should I say people with boats as that’s all there is. We called in as a stopover on the way to exploring the islands in Phang Na Bay, you have all heard of James Bond Island where the movie Man with the Golden Gun  was made, that’s where we are heading. We thought we would tie up for a few days, wash the boat down, laundry & a bit of shopping etc before we set off . It’s a nice marina, good showers, swimming pool (small), chandlery, yacht broker, couple of good local restaurants and that’s it! But at $30 a day it is a bit beyond our budget and so we are anchored outside and have paid $15 for  the week to have use of  the marinas facilities and be able to tie up when we get ashore. As you can see we are quite comfy here, out in the breeze which is much needed at the moment as its extremely hot & humid.

So, why is the marina so popular. We took a walk around the jetties…over 3 days…it was exhausting in the heat!!

It’s quite obvious that this is “super yacht haven” and we were just in awe at the sight of them all. Most were being worked on as labour is cheap here and from what we saw the quality of the workmanship is excellent. A few of the boats are up for sale and some are based here. But all have a full compliment of crew onboard ready to take the boat anywhere the owner desires at a moments notice. The crew are very proud of their particular boat and wear their uniforms with pride it seems. Busy everyday washing and polishing the topsides and superstructure to mirror reflection perfection.

So we thought we would share some photos with you as I know most of you who read the blog do not mind a picture or two of boats.

ENJOY!  But make sure you look at the last photo, it is by far the best and quite unique!

But after all that dreaming when it comes down to it who needs money to enjoy themselves? This last picture proves it.

Made out of polystyrene blocks tied together, a few branches & twigs, some old cloth & a bit of rope. The guy on board was as happy as Larry as he sailed past us not a care in the world, just out enjoying himself while he can.
